Attwater To Demonstrate Laminate Expertise At Aerospace Showcase

Industrial laminates specialist Attwater & Sons Ltd is to share the benefits of its laminate expertise with industry professionals during a technical talk at the Aerospace Sector Showcase 2018.

Matthew D’Arcy, Attwater’s technical manager, will explain how aerospace companies can improve the quality of their products through the use of polyimide glass and phenolic cotton laminates.

In particular, he will showcase B34, a polyimide glass laminate, which Attwater first developed in conjunction with BAE Systems 40 years ago for the Eurofighter Typhoon project. He will also introduce B10, a phenolic cotton laminate, which has existed in the company portfolio for over 50 years. Both materials have kept pace with advancements in resin and reinforcement technology throughout this time.

Matt will present the materials, which are typically used in gaskets, cable clamps, fair leads and washers, for example, and explain the properties and applications that make them industry leaders. He will explore how they are being used by the aerospace industry to help improve product quality.

The talk is part of a regional AMRC-Composites UK event which is organised in conjunction with advanced engineering specialists such as Sheffield University and Boeing.

David Conlon, business development manager, said: “The UK is a pioneer in the aerospace sector, which forms a key part of our economy. It is important that we continue to innovate and look to the future.

“Attwater has an excellent reputation within the sector because of our commitment to quality, delivery on time and a willingness to work alongside customers to produce products that best solve their manufacturing demands.

“We are looking forward to meeting with many industry colleagues at the event and sharing our work and knowledge with them.”

The event takes place at AMRC Rotherham on 19th April.
