Attwater Group welcomes David Conlon to the team

David ConlonWe are pleased to announce the appointment of David Conlon to our sales team. To welcome him to the company, we sat him down for a Q+A.

Hello David, welcome to Attwater. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is David Conlon, and I’m 39. I’m originally from Bolton, but now living here in Preston. My partner works at Cardinal Newman, and I suppose I could be described as a bit of a technophile.

What is your new role at Attwater?
I’ll be working in a business development role. I’m going to be looking at the customer databases and the different vertical markets that we service for both Attwater & Sons Ltd and Custom Composites Ltd. At the moment I’m looking at the industrial marine and pleasure marine sectors.

Attwater and Custom Composites are fascinating companies and I’m really interested in the variety of quality products and their applications. We work with some huge organisations, so I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of taking this forward and spreading the word about the good work we do here.

Are you feeling up to the job?
Definitely, I think we can achieve some great things.

My most recent role was running a sales team for an internet business operating nationally. I took lead conversion up from 60% to 80%. Before that, I worked in the family business creating, managing and running events and I also have experience of internal sales within the IT sector. I also lived and worked in Spain for four years teaching English as a foreign language.

How did you get on with the language?
I speak fluent Spanish! My other skills include cooking, particularly barbecues, and getting my hands on new technology. I recently water cooled my own computer and I love my hi-fi gear, having designed and built my own home cinema projection system.

I’m a really keen fan of motor racing – my favourite series is the Ginetta GT5 Challenge as I have a friend currently leading the series. I’m also an armchair Manchester City supporter.

Who would be your ideal dinner party guests?
Jack Nicholson, Johnny Depp, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard and Robert Downey Jr.

Thanks David, and good luck with the new job.
