Attwater apprentice Kevin Brown has peddled his way to a bumper cheque for Derian House Children’s Hospice.
The maintenance engineer cycled a 120-mile route between Morecambe, on the west coast, to Whitby, on the east. He smashed his target time: aiming to complete the ride in less than 7 hours, he managed to finish in just 6.
Thanks to kind-hearted backers, he raised £720 in donations and an extra £106 in Gift Aid. Kevin, who is half-way through his four year electrical apprenticeship at Preston College, undertook the tough task in aid of the local children’s hospice.
He said: “I did this for Derian House as a thank you for all the support they’ve given to our family. Our son, Oliver, has a rare genetic condition and they are wonderful with him. It costs £3 million each year to run the hospice, and I wanted to play my part.”
Attwater sales director Rachael Kennedy said: “We are really proud of Kevin for completing the ride – it’s a very difficult thing to do and he did it in an incredible time. Derian House is a great organisation and we have supported them for years and would encourage anyone to donate their time or money to the cause.”
