The most exciting part of our new ranges are centered around exhibiting low flaminability, low smoke emissions and low toxicity, making this a perfect material for use within the Rail and Underground sectors.
Silicone Glass (Attwater Grade B32) and Phenolic Glass (Attwater Grade B30) booth meet the requirements of the LUL SE970 flamability tests making them sutiable and approved for use within the London Underground network. Our ranges have been identified as providing solutions for:
Silicone glass laminates have low electric loss. With power factors as low as 3.8-4, and with very low relative permitivity, the material is suitable for use in high frequency applications such as microwaves and transmission antennas.
Our Grade B32 exhibits very low smoke toxicity and a high degree of flame resistance as small as temperature resistence to 160 degrees – 200 degrees celcius (or intermitently much higher). This makes it suitable for use in closed environments such as underground transportation and harsh environments such as furnace insulation.
Phenolic glass has good mechanical and electrical properties, though generally these are lower than the properties of epoxy grades. It does, however, posess a degree of flame retardency.
It’s relatively low smoke emission and toxicity help make it ideal for closed situations such as underground, aerospace or enclosed switchgear.
